I know that siblings do not always get along. I have a brother, I remember what it was like when we lived under the same roof. Especially during the summer when we were together 24/7.

As a parent, it’s rather annoying and stressful to have your kids arguing before 8:00 in the morning. This week has been especially difficult, and nothing seems to work. That is until today; this morning at 7:00 I had an epiphany during the course of both girls screaming in each other’s faces. They were supposed to be putting on their shoes, and somehow ended up in a screaming match over who would sit where πŸ™„. At that point I walked into the bathroom where they were and calmly told them to both stand up, and then to hold hands. They were a bit confused and looked at me like I was crazy but I stuck it out. I told them that they were to hold hands until they could get along. They had to figure out how to finish getting ready while holding hands, which made them work together. After about 30 minutes of them working together and being kind to one another I sat them down (still holding hands) and talked to them about how it can be difficult to always get along, but that it shouldn’t stop us from trying. Oh, and that from now on, they will hold hands anytime that I see fit.

After having it happen 3 times today, they finally get the picture. We will see how well it works in the future. In the mean time I’ll have to thank my Dad for that one. It’s what he made my brother and I do in the car when we didn’t get along πŸ˜‰.

Don’t they look thrilled πŸ˜„

  1. They don’t look happy bless them πŸ˜‚ That is a great idea I nerd to try it on my daughter and step children as they have a lot of arguments throughout the weekends they’re together and it drives me crazy! πŸ˜‚
